Pros
I joined SLB as a junior field engineer when I was 23 on local contract and had been working there for 4 years. For me, yesterday fresh graduate, that time it was a big challenge to start working in the middle of nowhere (6000 km far away from my home). But I didn't feel discomfort because the working environment was very friendly, I was always among the professional team who teached me a lot both technically and personally. In the beginning of my career I was sent abroad for 2 month training, then directly to the offshore field. In witch other company could you be exposed to such a level of responsibility? I had enough compensation to be free to travel wherever I wanted, but my rotation schedule was so unpredictable and vacations were really short, so this opportunity was rare and mostly I collected money for future journeys. By the way normal rotation in SLB is 6 weeks on by 3 weeks off, and in fact it was even more tough. I definitely share the company values and the main achievement witch is meritocracy. But I have to confess it doesn't work in my country as it supposed to work. Maybe it explains high staff turnover. Anyway if you are smart enough and like to work hard you will have a fast career and personal growth. SLB is one of the best equal employer I know.
Cons
It very hard to describe the whole company witch consist of more than 130 000 employees. All what I just said above are related to the certain country and certain segment.
