Pros

International work environment Competitive perks package (pension scheme, gym membership, complimentary drinks, insurance, net perks, bike benefits) Stable employment Above-average paid leave days Decent range of technologies for the banking industry Strong industry recognition to enhance your resume Opportunities available for non-local employees

Cons

No relocation package (some individuals receive sign-up bonuses for moving expenses, but this is not a standard policy) Significant friction within the office due to stringent security constraints (e.g., excessive card scans and fingerprint verifications just to reach the workplace) Limited freedom to develop and implement new solutions Prevalence of internal politics and pressure on lower-level employees Workplace culture prioritizes image over actual performance, favoring those who engage in flattery and align closely with management Only one remote workday per week (which is not always guaranteed) Salaries consistently below market rates (SWIFT salaries range from 75% to 130% of the market average for a given role, but in reality, no one earns 100% of the market rate) Unstable schedule, often requiring last-minute coverage for colleagues, including on remote workdays and scheduled days off Bonus allocation is quota-based, meaning some employees will be denied a bonus regardless of performance; on average, bonuses are received once every three years, often favoring those who maintain close relationships with superiors Bonus decisions are made by a panel of managers rather than one's direct supervisor, making the process less transparent and potentially unfair Bonuses can be denied for arbitrary reasons such as smoking, not being social enough, or frequent phone use Internal promotions and team transfers are promised but rarely materialize in practice Loud and busy open space

Poor senior management and too many middle managers Terrible performance management approach related to who you know not what you do. Good engineers are leaving because there are no promotions and the pay has fallen far behind other companies
