Often understaffed, decreased selection of supplies make it difficult to provide appropriate patient care. We used to be able to use bath wipes to bath or clean patients incontinence, these are soft and gentle on patients with fragile skin prone to pressure wounds. Now we have to use washcloths which are hard on older and fragile skin. In my professional opinion this was a bad call that hurts patients.
Health insurance plan as mentioned in the Pros section is now with UMR. The bad: in comparison to our previous health care plan with Blue Cross of Kansas City, this plan doesn’t cover many generic drugs. In my case a generic form of medication, the only type I can take, is not covered?!! I was without my medicine for weeks while waiting on the company to approve it but it was ultimately denied. Now paying out of pocket for the full price of 540.00 Dollars for a 90 days refill. As a nurse working at such large hospital you would think we would be given better coverage!
