Pros

When I joined this company, it was hitting all the right notes with numerous projects and a great grooming place for budding engineers. #1- great for learners #2- best place in Chennai for variety of O&G projects #3- good canteen food #4- great for HR people since they can jump levels every year #5-People will be NOT be laid off ( incompetents too)

Cons

Lots: #1- Not good if you seek professional treatment #2- Loyalty means no hike in salary where as new entrants can easily bargain and get what they want #3- HR policy... actually the lack of it. HR maintain a disconnect between core engineering disciplines and themselves constantly. Most HR guys are old employees and not qualified for the right jobs. #4- Notice period of 3 months #5- discipline heads are chosen to suit management's whims and not technical competence.

Pros

Great responsibility for offshore operations and quay-side mobilizations. Less technical role (no direct engineering performed), but more so, practical experience-driven when executing onsite.

Cons

Lots of reading and writing (Purchase Requests>Purchase Orders>Final contracts). Bureaucratic procurement (SAP and Word/Excel heavy) and poor interdepartmental follow-up: you have to do the follow-up when the assigned project inspector and expeditor (POSE) don't follow up on your PO. High workload.
