Pros

If you have the mental fortitude to block out the negative, toxic workplace culture, there are still technical skills that can be learnt here to further your career and move you onto a more balanced workplace in future.

Cons

- Borderline bullying & harrassment. These people know the legal limits, so skirt precariously close to the edge of what is permissable, always having their "plausible deniability" excuses ready-at-hand. If anyone dares to take issue with them, they are masters at "blaming the victim", with excuses like, "oh but you misunderstood me", "perhaps you're too sensitive". - This place is not a meritocracy. Your hard work and innovations will not be acknowledged or rewarded. Such valiant efforts will get you into trouble, you will be silently blacklisted by management for drawing too much attention to yourself and for challenging their safe and secure sense of "status quo". You may find that your hard work and efforts will instead be mocked and ridiculed. You will be rubbished for trying to give it your all. - In contrast, you may find management have hand-picked their whitelisted individuals, their lackeys, that seem to get away with doing very little work, talking aloud and posturing all day. - Management seem to have an unhealthy level of interest in who you communicate with and socialise with. They are hyper-sensitive to any communications you have with the opposite gender. Upon them getting a whiff of such interactions, they will enlist their lackeys to play blocking/interference and spying games. Their lackeys will smear your name behind your back to others, to further discourage others from interacting with you. - Management seem to treat women in the office as trophies that they can award to their loyal lackeys. - blacklisted individuals can look forward to management ostracising them via their network of loyal lackeys. The lackeys will discourage anyone from talking to you and socialising with you. The accumulative effect of enduring this toxic environment over the long-term is quite psychologically damaging. I'd suggest new-starters consider putting a hard limit on the number of years they intend to stay here. In the long-run, it is not worth enduring such a toxic culture any longer than you need to, for the sake of your own mental health. There are better places to work out there, just have the courage and conviction to believe you are worthy and deserving of them, rather than accepting management's projection upon you that you are useless and worthless and trapped there with no hope of moving on.

Pros

Great work/life balance, reliable teamwork and support from management, opportunities for growth and exposure to new skills.

Cons

Coaching/overseeing a team in itself has a set of cons, which is what I primarily handle on a daily basis. This comes with any job, but you will have people on your team who need to improve on things such as lack of communication, lack of effort, no work ethic, and lack of skills. Motivating them can be difficult at times, and then you always seem to have a few who do things to avoid work. An accumulation of all these factors subsequently creates more, unnecessary, and redundant work for us. These types of people tend to eliminate themselves out over time due to poor performance and/or quit.
