Pros

Hourly rate was competitive for contract work

Cons

Falsely presented this position in many ways including severity of caseload, need for compensatory services, poor communication, lack of support with Special Education administration and staff, observation of therapy being presented and documented in ABA format as per data collection/trial: not as an SLP would typically conduct services, He was never observed conducting therapy without the use of a device and giving each child their own device to address goals and record their respones to a screen. Owner, also an SLP with PhD had never heard of TPT (teachers pay teachers) which was a huge red flag, Never informed upon hire that position was still being posted which resulted in an in-house hire and a two week notice with one being a vacation week. No discussion in writing or verbal related to follow up, future possibilities or general concern due to emotional and financial situation until the very end of the final day, when he asked if I had any interest in continued contract work without any actual information in writing or verbally. I refused and as a result wasn't able to collect unemployment. Pursued a hearing and with use of falsified documents and lies was able to convince the court that he did act according to the law. Since this state has become so lax and reticent to offer assistance and he was so convincing I was left with an empty bank account and serious emotional distress.
