Pros

The work hours are very flexible for college students, they're very understanding about classes and new class schedules. The staff, as well as the supervisors and other higher-ups, are extremely kind and welcoming. Occasional raises if one's performance excels over time.

Cons

You must always be alert, with little to no time to rest or sit down.

Pros

Honestly, this is the best job I ever had. Now that I finished my college education, I have moved on but I find myself always reminiscing about Serious Fun. It was such a pleasant, fun, and chill job I would have done it for free. I had the time of my life helping those kids. They are the best-behaved kids I have ever met in my 8 years working with children. I feel deep nostalgia about Serious Fun. Serious Fun has a supportive, considerate, and deeply humane administration. They employ the most upbeat, friendly, and some of the kindest people I have ever met in my life. I started as a Teacher's Assistant and moved up to Spanish Teacher. Just have fun, show your passion, and be responsible and you'll thrive here. This was my favorite teaching experience ever. I worked there for two years. For a college student during the time I was there, it was pretty good. You will have fun here and make friends, Be kind and professional. It's a very smooth job. You have freedom and will not be micromanaged. Humor, fun, and happiness is encouraged and naturally happens here.

Cons

Honestly, there is no con, Perhaps only that it mostly takes place in Queens. I just wish it was here where I live in The Bronx. If they had a Saturday program, perhaps I would go. Just wish I could match my schedule. During the time I was there, it was 2 PM - 6 PM.

Pros

Caring for families is fulfilling and challenging. Health insurance and supplementary services are provided for full time staff. Your children can be enrolled free of charge. Timing works well, especially if your children attend the program.

Cons

No communication, neglect, and disrespect from upper management. Lower management is harassed for being understaffed yet, they are the party responsible for staffing. Each site is understaffed and it has been that way for years. If you voice concerns or differing opinions, they will harass or degrade you until you eventually leave. Most importantly, their behavior prevents you from creating the safe, enriching and stimulating atmosphere you were told was originally the goal. Specialty teachers do not arrive, leaving teacher assistants to teach cooking/science for months. In 2017, a martial arts teacher with a criminal record regarding "endangering children" was hired to teach in multiple sites for weeks. It is to the point where I wonder if the company is covering up their financial gains and the families agree.
