Pros

Ability to make great industry contacts Free beauty products Flexible hours (WFH Mondays, 11am-?? office hours) AMAZING, talented, witty, fun team (below MGMT level)

Cons

- You can feel a literal sigh of relief in the office when management leaves for the day. - Founder has established a set of "core values" which are often used to place blame for problems, but management is rarely held accountable for said values themselves. These values include “ownership”, “direct communication”, “problem solving”, etc. The CEO is usually the absolute last person in the office and the first to leave during the day. Management will ask to have a meeting about something, ask for a follow up email about said meeting, and will clearly not listen to or read and then ask questions about things that had been discussed in both. - I caught someone in upper management talking behind my back to another co-worker as I sat at their desk helping that particular co-worker learn a new tool. - Editors are clearly over-worked, I was often in the office with the newest member of the team past 7pm while her boss worked a 6 hour day. - Emphasis is heavy on quick fixes, very little patience is applied for long-term issues that need long term solutions. “Best Practices” are often not disregarded and even frowned upon– while I was working there, a few outside agencies declined to work directly with SheFinds due to the way business was being conducted. - Note: consider that the only positive reviews were written by CURRENT employees – admittedly they were ASKED to write positive write ups to counteract the negative reviews

Pros

If you're an ambitious person, SHEfinds is a fantastic place to work. There's total upward mobility, you can have an idea for something, make a business case for it and become the company lead on it like *that*. I've been promoted several times. People that are curious and hungry and come from a growth mindset will hit the ground running and stay for a long time. If you've been stagnated at other companies, I highly recommend applying for a job here. The opportunities for growth are limitless. But you have to want to grow. Like any company, it takes the right person (smart, ambitious, resourceful) to be a perfect fit. The expectations are high and people are really passionate about their work. Not a bad thing. You won't find mass layoffs here--owners are careful with budget and expenditures and managers are deeply invested in creating successes that can sustain growth of the company. Bottom line: don't apply if you're looking for a job just to pass the time, people take their work seriously, which is most rewarding in the long run.

Cons

Not for people who want to do the same job day after day Lots of passion can lead to heated discussions Most people prefer direct communication so make sure that's a fit for you

Thank you for your feedback. I'm so happy you enjoy working at SHEfinds. My aim is that every day will bring an exciting new opportunity to develop your skills and explore your interests. As for the heated discussions -- we endeavor to focus on "problems, not people." This is something we repeat before we have strategy discussions so that people can focus on the issue rather than get swept up in emotion. We aren't perfect at this all the time, but we're doing better with each challenge we overcome together.

Pros

The assignments are straightforward and staff is friendly and always ready to answer your questions.

Cons

There is a lot of pressure put on writers to scout experts for interviews, source images, copyedit articles, and build them in the CMS. It's a lot of work for a tight turnaround (and the rates that they pay).
