Interesting work, partners generally nice on an individual level, great place to learn specialised areas of law
Cons
High stress levels, money not great, total lack of transparency about the firm’s financial performance and reasons for bonuses or pay rises or lack thereof, no published salary bands, antiquated firm culture (eg no maternity leave policy), high turnover of staff, not much consideration for staff wellbeing, senior management very distant from the associates but everything always blamed on them. Plus the business support staff are not well treated.
