Pros
The company has such small teams that owning a big part of the company's work is very achievable in a small amount of time. The work is challenging but the impact is high
Cons
There's nothing bad about working hard.... however it is bad when working hard is expected from management and rewarded very little. The salary is mediocre for an engineer in the area and the hours demanded are way more than a normal engineering job would require. It's a startup true and the upside of it is the opportunity to get stock from a growing company.... however this is not the case when the company refuses to give stock easily to its new hires. The CEO and the management are also reluctant to reward hard work and long hours with bonuses, promotions or even dinners/lunches. Furthermore the management is very immature and are figuring out things as they go .... which leads to many unprofessional practices like not doing exit interviews for interns, firing employees haphazardly and not having someone full-time in charge of the HR, payroll and employee benefits (leading to awkward HR mistakes that shouldn't happen in an actual company).
