Pros

remote work, decent pay, benefits and smart people make this company at least somewhat bearable.

Cons

this company is very strange to me. the policies they put in place aren't even followed by the people who put them in place. the people who manage you have no real sense of what they are doing. they claim to have more of a flat hierarchy but this is really not true -- the people in charge will let you know they are in charge every step of the way. lots of chest thumping. they claim they want you to come up with ideas and ways to make them better but they really don't. most suggestions made were mostly ignored. there is really no feedback loop on what should be done better. if you need help or have a question you are on your own.

Pros

SitePen has always been ahead of the pack in conceptualizing and developing modern technologies (JavaScript & TypeScript) and in understanding that work-life balance is more important that the bottomline (100% remote since the beginning and not treating its team like butts in seats). Enjoying excellent benefits, never being asked to work overtime to meet a deadline and having my time and expertise valued as a professional and not as a cog in the corporate machine is AWESOME. SitePen believes in not only delivering real value to its customers but also believes in delivering an exceptional experience to its team. And it shows: our team is smart, snappy and super fun.

Cons

Not really the place for ascension to the C-suite however, it's still a great stepping stone if you want to learn from a great team and have fun along the way!

Pros

Great company. Laid back work environment. 100% remote distributed team. Awesome, fun, super smart co-workers. Challenging work. Unheard of level of benefits package, flexible hours, in person company adventures (white water rafting anyone?)...and did I mention birthday cupcakes - delivered to your door? Or birthday presents for your spouse and kids? The owners go out of their way to show appreciation and do fun and unexpected things for their employees - regardless of being 100% remote.

Cons

The main reason I am posting to Glassdoor is to counter the absurdity of some of the negative postings about SitePen on here. It is offensive and untrue, even libelous. I am a current employee who has worked at SitePen for a number of years. As another reviewer on here mentions - 'SitePen seeks out the best and the brightest. This is a small company where you are expected to work hard to do the job you were hired to do - and do it well - and then reap the awesome pay and benefits that comes along with it.' Unfortunately, many people seem to think that remote work is just "show up, play video games/watch tv, collect check". These people do not last at SitePen. We work as a team. So, if you consider it a "con" to be held accountable for your work, SitePen is not the place for you.
