We had a lot of poor management in the past, that's for sure. Recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training were definitely not where they should have been. But as of this month we're redesigning the whole process, and it's attracting much better leaders and teammates in general. As far as the comment regarding "differentiate work and personal lives" goes, this is the nature of startups. Entrepreneurship can only be understood by doing it, and these comments are usually stated by people that have never tried building a company themselves.
