Supportive culture but random decision-making and unclear progression - Senior Platform Specialist Skipton Building Society Employee Review

Pros

Supportive culture with a genuine focus on customers and members. Good work-life balance compared to many financial organisations, and colleagues are generally approachable and collaborative. Opportunities to get involved in meaningful change initiatives, particularly around digital and process improvements.

Cons

Decision-making can sometimes be slow due to layers of governance, which can impact delivery pace. Legacy systems and processes can make change more complex than it needs to be. Career progression can feel unclear without proactively pushing for opportunities. Changes to colleague numbers, roles and blended working met with a lot of resistance and ill feeling. people feeling like numbers, which is not what the Skipton was ever about.
