Pros

Flexible working is great, people are generally motivated by purpose. The purpose we share is clear,

Cons

Not the best pay. Forcing the move back to HO has been uncomfortable and unwelcome. How we achieve our purpose is not so clear. Change is poorly managed. There should be more consultation with the people who do the work. Bring people with you rather than forcing change.

It’s great to hear how important our purpose is to you; we think it’s what makes us special. We know we’ve been going through a period of change. We do truly believe that these changes are right for the future of Skipton; however, we know changes to how we work can have an impact and won’t feel the same for everyone. Before making any decisions about our blended working approach, we spoke with colleagues, gathered feedback and ran a period of consultation to understand what matters most to our teams. That input helped shape the approach we’re taking. Flexible working still remains a key part of what it’s like to work at Skipton! Regarding your comment about bringing people with us on change, we agree. Doing change “with people, not to people” is exactly how we’re changing our Homes and Money businesses.

Pros

C-Suite management have reinvigorated the business. There is much more purpose and energy and innovation than we’ve ever had before. There is a better focus on the Group and the subsidiaries and how they support our strategy. Yes, the business is very different to how we used to be but it’s better in my view. Stuart et al have brought us into the 21st century with a purpose and given us a fighting chance to thrive in a market of big players with big tech and deep pockets.

Cons

Pay could be a bit better to compete with the big city firms (I.e Leeds and Manchester).
