Cons

This is not a place for me to get at people, but I feel people need to be wary when working within this job role, as I have seen people break down and crying at their desk, been pestered at 10 11 o’clock at night been asked if there coming back to work the next day. How many words do I get to write because I’m thinking as of now, it would not be enough! Working within this role, you have to reflect and think how important your family, mental health and physical health are to you. Sky do not see that at all. Sky as a company on the whole is amazing, but unfortunately with every success story there is an element of negatives and that is mostly down to sky sales. Currently they have mental health ambassadors. There is a lady cel (Vn) at the end of the centre very approachable, very friendly. A gentlemen cel (JA)near the entrance who has just recently stepped in to the role, who is fantastic. There are 2 more ambassadors (cj and na) in the middle who are not very approachable. one speaks to people like dirt, has such an attitude. Only a few weeks ago, there was email sent out asking if anyone needs to talk to this lady for a private chat, she was available to speak to in a break out area. Don’t think anyone approached her which speaks volumes. She is someone who is very nice to your face but disgusting behind your back. Again, these are sky’s mental health ambassadors. One other Ambassador is a new SM, who is one of the most unapproachable people I have come across at sky. She never says morning to anyone. She comes across as a person who takes advantage of the role she is in, for example she gives the impression she does not need to make an effort with anybody. They are not qualified to talk about mental health. Recruitment opportunities can be hard to come by. There was a gentleman who kicked off because Sky increased the starting salary. The gentlemen in question then said he was not happy because somebody who could have had just joined the business, potentially was getting the same basic as him. So, what did sky do to deal with this gentlemen’s point of which he disapproved, they gave him a stepping into management role. Great way to deal with it. I am sure he will not have been the only person impacted by this, so why treat one person far more important than anyone else? Some of the cel’s with this environment are vile. Woman (nw) who apparently has been at sky for over 15 years, became a cel, because the permanent cel at the time was on leave and she was stepping up. Pretty much, right place at the right time. She is not a people person in the slightest, she tells people they cannot sit on her bank. Despite some people maybe on there own due to flexi shifts (maybe the mental health ambassadors could give her some training). Her whole personality makes it hard for people to approach her and ask for help. Another Cel (cta), sits right at the far end of the centre, who looks like David guest on steroids. You can go ask him for help, but he is sat at his desk just liking pictures of girls on Instagram. Why is a cel allowed his phone out at his desk you ask? He is not allowed it at his desk due to Dpa. There is no work balance life at sky, they may say they do but its 100% business needs first. They don’t care if you have young baby girl lying in a hospital bed, or if you have just lost a close family member, sales want you back on the phones taking them calls. I will not go into all the bonus changes here as I would need to full page review for that, I have tried my best to take these issues with sky further but consistently get swept under the carpet. Hence why I left! My advice, if you value your family and your health, please avoid this place until changes are made, if you have just joined this job role, get a union rep as you need some who knows their policies as sky won’t tell you what you entitled to.
