Pros

It offers plenty of challenges. It is located in a pleasant business area of south Palo Alto, in the heart of Silicon Valley. Parking is free and available.

Cons

The corporation is understaffed. The staff turnover rate is extremely high and salaries are very low. Huge and disruptive changes take place frequently. Communication from leadership is intermittent; there is very little transparency.

Pros

Deeply supportive, compassion community of scholars, educators, and practitioners. Each member of the administration "talks the talk" and "walks the talk," and they consistently demonstrate this with their transparency and productive communication amongst employees. A small university like Sofia provides many benefits in terms of serving students closely and accounting for individuals' experiences in a more holistic way.

Cons

While the university is strongly committed to its transpersonal heritage, there are some gaps in its integration across programs. Sofia's employees care deeply for each other and our students, and there are ongoing staff/faculty/student challenges given staff shortages and budget limitations that prevent more fluid, seamless administrative processes. There is siloing among departments that is being improved but will need additional improvement moving forward.

Pros

I have never been happier to work at a school. Sofia is made up of the kindest most decent human beings on the planet. The mission of the school lies in a deeply ethical commitment to human development and personal transcendence. The programs are superb, and the students are excellent. It is just such a joyous place to work! There is very little bureaucracy and we move and pivot fast so it is exciting and not frustrating

Cons

rapid growth can be difficult to navigate. You never have the people you need to handle what is coming. Everyone really works hard. The technical systems require to many work arounds, but we manage. It is good to have growing pains in today's market as 'growing' is not the norm.
