Pros
I worked at Sonobi for just under 6 years (the first couple as an intern, and the last few as a full time engineer), and had a great experience here. In terms of career growth, I couldn't have asked for a better place to start; I learned a ton about technology, the industry, and also surprisingly management strategies. There's also plenty of incredibly smart and willing-to-teach developers..if you want to learn about something people are generally very willing to take the time and show you. With respect to culture, I'm confused by a lot of the recent reviews. My entire tenure there, 99% of my coworkers were friendly, supportive, and encouraging. There were a couple exceptions but that's just life..and also they generally didn't last long. My direct boss had the incredibly (in this industry) rare combination of being brilliant and personable. The main reason I stayed here as long as I did was because the people, I looked forward to coming into the office and seeing this group. Work / life balance was also pretty good: Chick Fil-A Fridays, occasional free lunches, happy hours, ping-pong tournaments, and unlimited PTO (once you reach 3 years). They also allowed me to work remotely full time which I appreciated.
Cons
Limited ceiling - On my team (GO), senior engineers have literally decades of experience, so I didn't get the chance to design/architect any large projects. I completely understand why, but for my personal growth I eventually had to look for another opportunity where I'd get that chance. Compensation - The pay isn't competitive. Industry - Personally, I'm just not a fan of ad-tech. It's rapidly changing and can be very confusing. Meetings - I think (1) there are too many meetings and (2) for ad-hoc meetings people often don't come prepared for them, which would save an incredible amount of time.
