Pros
Honey I won't lie I really can't give you any. Sometimes you might get 1 or 2 sweet kids out of a class of 30, or maybe you'll get a couple parents who will bring you a holiday gift, but if you are expecting to learn and grow as a teacher this is not the place for you.
Cons
This job is like an abusive boyfriend. You don't fully realize how horribly you let yourself get treated until you're finally free. I stayed at this job for far, far too long because the years and years of disrespect made me believe I couldn't do better. I wont say how long I stayed, but it was in between 5-10 years, I worked in every room, I knew every child, I worked any position they needed so I promise you, this is the only review you need to read to make a decision. This job took my sparkle, it took my personality, it took my passion and my energy and it turned me into a tired shell of who I was. I gave this place all of me and I am still trying to recover from the burnout and depression. The energy in the whole school depends on how the women up front are feeling that day. If they are moody (which they always are), they WILL take it out on you, which means you will get stressed out, and since children feed off of emotion they will feel it and they will get stressed out and will act insane the whole day; And if you're sitting there thinking "Just don't show it in the classroom" that isn't possible honey. This place can and WILL break you down to a point where a spilled cup of milk will have you crying on the floor in the back playground bathroom. You are expected to know everything the day you start. If you ask questions you're annoying, if you need anything you're selfish, if you do something wrong you're useless, if you need assistance you're a weak teacher and can't be trusted to handle things on your own. It does not matter how much experience you come in with or how long you work there, they will never pay you what you deserve, and if you DARE to ask for a raise, the directors will act as if you're taking money out of their pocket and make you think that a 25. cent raise is a huge honor you should be GRATEFUL for. Then still make you pay for anything you need for your classroom with your own money. TLDR: Poor management, poor pay, long hours, constant disrespect regardless of years of experience or devotion, gaslighting, manipulation, guilt from management if you need a day off, NO sick days, favoritism, no gratitude, you pay for anything you need with your own money, Please, please don't apply here if you love yourself.
