Pros
* The company has an amazing culture. Everybody seems happy and excited about what they are doing. * There are numerous opportunities to learn. People are always willing to teach you something and are open to hearing your ideas. You can talk to anyone directly, and there are many opportunities to show what you know and build a nice portfolio. * Flexible work hours. I personally like to have lots of freedom when working. Knowing that I am evaluated by the results I generate and that my boss does not micromanage me matters a lot to me. * Fun and smart people. You are challenged all the time, but the coworkers are the best. This is not a competitive environment, but a place in which people collaborate with each other. * The company is growing. We just debuted a new office floor in Chicago, and we seem to be doing well. We are in a competitive industry, but a promising one. * The company organizes happy hours, and there is free food at the office all the time. * I have weekly meetings with my boss and I feel the company is investing time and resources so I can have a valuable experience here.
Cons
I really have nothing to say at this point. I believe this is a fast-paced environment where often you will work long hours and be required to do things that will go beyond your job. So, it is not for everybody. But this is part of the experience of working at a startup. In the end, you have the opportunity of learning a lot in a short period. But if you prefer a more formal structure with someone to tell you what to do all the time, this is probably not the best place for you. This is a better place for entrepreneurial and type A people.
