Pros

- Amazing team mates (from engineers to designers, researchers, data analysts and product managers)

Cons

- No career growth: No prospect on what the career progression should look like. - No diversity: Be prepared to join a team with mostly only men and white people. Diversity is definitely not a priority for the company, it's not even on their radar as a core value. - No long term vision: C-level talks about growth, but they have no vision on what the product could be in 5 years. Also they spend a ridiculous amount of money on offices which are almost empty every day! - Layoffs: Due to the above, they are struggling to grow, investors are pulling out and they are laying off a lot of people - Unlawful: Highly questionable decisions here that are prone to employees filing a lawsuit. They lay off people and then hire people for the same positions without even checking if the people they are laying off have the skills to remain in the company. Moreover, they tried to get away with laying off an employee with only 1 month notice, instead of 3 as per contract!! - Toxic culture: C-level bluntly states that if people are not happy in the company then they should leave, instead of trying to understand what is wrong and make things better for employees wanting to stay. - HR is a nightmare: Mainly for people outside of Germany, they have no idea how to give you access to your benefits like e.g. Private Pension (UK). - Issues with transparency: It's either a political game where things are said to look good and pretty, with no transparency - OR - it's too transparent at times! They share people with faces and current job titles who are being recruited for open positions... which is confidential information!!

The team I worked with was consistent and reliable. My supervisor was especially supportive.

Cons

It's an edtech startup, so everything changes quickly. New rules for writing and citations, SEO team updates, etc.
