Pros

CEO is a fantastic leader with passion to improve the firm.

Cons

Mid level manager has clear favorites and does not invest in the professional growth of other consultants. Really toxic culture that made high school feel like a breeze. Lower than market competitive compensation. Consistent travel even through COVID times. Should I continue?

Pros

People. SD is full of people who will care about you and seek to aid your development. Expertise. SD is the premier consulting firm in surgical services and I honestly believe no consulting firm can have the same impact on an OR, anesthesia group, or ASC as SD. Potential. The company is growing rapidly and has potential for significant growth. Anyone who wants to be part of building something great would enjoy working at SD.

Cons

Transition. The company did a management buy out recently (purchased back SD from its parent company, Mednax) and when I left, the company was still experiencing some of the challenges that come with that type of shift. Small. While small companies are right for some people, it wasn't what I was looking for at this stage of my career.

Pros

Coworkers are mostly nice to work with

Cons

- Travel gets really old and then when you've been traveling for years they'll tell you it's "not fair" to have you travel less than the people below you - Pay is miles below what other consulting firms pay - Small company so if you don't like working with someone you're stuck doing so
