Pros

Sweetwater's corporate motto, "do the right thing," gets applied to every iota of customer interaction to be sure... but they begin it with their employees. There are so many programs and benefits offered it would fill pages to describe, and they are constantly dreaming up new ones. This company regularly surveys its employees to understand their level of job satisfaction and what can be improved. It seems like every couple months they're adding some major new program or benefit or making our lives better in some way. Details such as air quality, the food you eat at lunch, convenient access to numerous services (it's as if someone here keeps asking, "what errands do our employees have to run at lunch, can we bring them in-house to make it easier?" ... you'd be amazed ... need to put something in the mail? Get a haircut? Do some banking? Get an oil change? Get something dry cleaned? Actually grab lunch or an awesome coffee? Borrow a movie to watch? Play some games? Get some exercise--maybe run, lift, play racquetball? Go to the doctor???".... (yup ... in-house doctor)). Even the building and the grounds are kept up beautifully. Everything about this place is first class. Aside from the stellar compensation and benefits though, the quality and attitudes of people who work here are also top shelf. Professionalism, respect, genuine interest and concern for each other ... there are even classes in leadership, 1-on-1 counseling for wellness, mental, physical, financial, and even legal help. The company hires first rate people to begin with, but then keeps you healthy and happy with this very holistic approach to maintaining employee well-being. And it shows every day in your coworkers. It is very difficult to have a bad day here. The health of the environment is quite infectious. Then there is the work itself. This is a job that contributes meaningfully to people's lives. Every job in the company contributes to promoting and spreading the universal language of music, directly or indirectly. It's important, positive work that makes the world a better place.

Cons

Hmmm... this is a required field. The parking lots are big because so many people want to work here, Indiana winters are cold and there's no valet parking or heated robotic shuttles. No doubt someone in management is now reading this and googling "heated robotic parking lot shuttle" ... give them time :) I forgot to mention under pros though, something else they already thought of, which is returning to your car at the end of your work day and finding your car battery dead or your tire is flat: yes, this company helps you even with that. They'll send personnel and equipment out to help you! Oh and again ... quality of employees, often you'll see someone with a snow brush or ice scraper helping out with more than their own car. I guess I should have added that up in the "pros" section too. I'm glad this "cons" field was provided with more space to write about what an awesome place to work Sweetwater is.

Pros

If sales and music are your drives, Sweetwater is as good as it gets. Management in my experience has been very supportive and development-oriented, creating a positive culture around the company. They have a fantastic training program (albeit intense) that trains on both products and sales methods, so even if you're lacking experience in a given category there's plenty of coaching and training to get you ready for the role. Over time, the position can also be quite lucrative which compliments Fort Wayne's low cost of living well. They also offer relocation assistance since all positions are on-site, and a great benefits package. I've been fortunate to become great friends with many of my coworkers and honestly some days don't even feel like work. Ultimately, with this job you get what you put in, and making a solid living to geek out over music gear all day is a pretty sweet gig.

Cons

The job is very demanding - it's a fully commission sales job that revolves around constant customer outreach via call, text, and email. This means starting out is tough financially, and days are usually long. Try to have a savings cushion before you start, especially if you're moving from another city/state. You also work nights, holidays, and rotate through weekend shifts which won't be new for those who have worked retail before, but it's still a tough adjustment. Starting out I struggled from a social aspect as well. Fort Wayne is a cool city, but it's no LA, NY, or Chicago. Long hours at work make going out and making friends or getting involved in community groups/organizations difficult.
