Pros
Very friendly and easy going staff. Flexible for part time student employees. Generous compensation and benefits. Environment friendly. Opportunity for growth exists. (It depends on your goal). Helps you gain product knowledge in retail banking. A good stepping stone to other careers within the Bank. Builds confidence and employees empowered to make decisions. Improves sales and problem solving skills
Cons
It may be hard to transition from retail banking to other departments such as investment banking especially if you are from a smaller city or not in Ontario. Unless you go to a target school or exceptionally good it may be hard to break in corporate. Note to Finance Graduates: Many people have a misconception that this is a Finance job. Just because you are in a bank doesn't mean it's a finance job. This position is a sales job and good way to get product knowledge in the field of retail banking. Good stepping Stone for aspiring CFP's and financial planners definitely not for CFA's or FRM's among others.
