Pros

Very smart engineers Excellent work life balance/hours (Virtually no weekends except for quarterly releases) Very relaxed, low stress Team is very focused on working together to solve problems Excellent position in market to disrupt and capture market share from sleepy competitors Senior leadership is highly willing to adopt to new technologies and approaches Interesting set of technology and scaling problems to solve in a B2B context Founders/senior management have all been with company for 10+ years plus Decent vision for the evolution and growth of the company

Cons

Since TMC is not a startup and due to long tenure of senior management if you are interested in advancing to senior management it may be difficult Java/Javascript technology stack (while appropriate for company and product) is not as sexy as what some early stage startups can offer

Pros

Working at TMC you're surrounded by intelligent colleagues that take their jobs seriously while still fostering a fun, welcoming environment. The job is well defined and senior staff members always welcome questions, and try to help when something is unclear to them. If you have new ideas for how to improve things, or for new technologies that can be useful, there is the flexibility to pursue and explore these ideas. There is ongoing effort being made by management to educate new developers on company technology, business flow, and outside emerging tech. If you have an interest in finance and the initiative to be a self learner you can learn a lot about fixed income trading. The kindness and respect in the office as a whole reflects the culture the CEO has encouraged and fostered.

Cons

Developers are expected to work without admin rights. If you want to try a new technology which requires administrative privileges it can be challenging. The open floor plan can be distracting at times.
