Pros
There were people on the editorial staff who made the job enjoyable. Most of those people have left. The hours are somewhat flexible, meaning most people can work the 10-7 instead of 8-5. The office is located downtown near some bars and restaurants, which is nice.
Cons
The pay is terrible for pretty much everyone despite the fact that the paper uses a paywall online. Overtime is disallowed or restricted. Raises are not-existent and you will have to work most holidays. There is no opportunity to innovate because of a lack of resources and talent. The leadership seems to have no idea how the paper is going to remain profitable in the future.
