I believe the decision to appoint a non-technical individual as a tech manager is proving to be counterproductive. Technical teams need leaders who understand the nuances of our work, from coding to architecture decisions, and who can make informed judgments when issues arise. Unfortunately, having a non-technical manager has led to several challenges: Explaining technical concepts or justifying project timelines is an uphill battle.
