Pros
The work life balance is good. That's really all that's good here.
Cons
This used to be a nice place to work. The pay was decent and there was perceived value in the marketplace for their products. That has changed. Working here now is the most difficult sales job I've ever had. The print products are seen as irrelevant to most of our customers and the digital offerings are 10 years behind our competitors. Our goals change MONTHLY and while they say there is a formula to how they are calculated I don't see it. Mine has fluctuated as much as 10k from month to month. On top of it all there is a new Director of Local Retail that is absolutely a nightmare to work for. Turnover is high and morale is EXTREMELY low. Everyone I know in every position imaginable is looking for a new career, except for managers. This place is ruled by dinosaurs of the print industry. We need some young enthusiastic leadership to make some real changes or the Observer won't be in business in less that 10 years. The bottom line is that if you're looking for a fresh start don't look here, this is a stale opportunity. Don't walk, RUN!
