Pros

You get paid You work from home

Cons

This is not real journalism. Nobody cares that this is not real journalism. They pretend it's real journalism. They try to pass of stories as local news. They treat their audience like dopes.

Pros

Unlike larger outfits, Daily Voice management seems to have mastered the remote work balance of productivity and communication without leaving employees feeling isolated or micromanaged. Video meetings are only called as needed and the trainings are provide actually useful information. Open communication helps teams work together on research and writing articles which have greatly improved the quality of the articles Daily Voice publishes. The pay is also about $10K over traditional media outlet salaries.

Cons

It can be hard to find a work-life balance.

Pros

- The only pro I can take away from this position is to never work for a boiler-room ever again.

Cons

Pretty horrible work experience. Horrible management. They wanted me to make upwards of 220 calls per day, constant recording of phone calls, leaning over you whilst making phone calls on your first week, recording phone calls makes for an overall nerve-racking/unproductive experience. They want you to stick to a script instead of work on your own flow, and by stick to the script they want you to follow it word for word. Commissions are absolutely horrible and the pay is atrocious for the type of work they make you do. I made the poor decision of sticking with the company for a while before quitting because I was desperate for a job. The general sales strategy for the company is to cast the widest net possible, rather then spend actual time with follow up and research. Management is also impersonal and in general the company is so small/fragmented there is no actual culture. Do not work here!
