Training can feel long: The first three months are mainly training, and it can feel like you’re doing the same thing on repeat. But to be fair, you’re still getting a full-time salary, and the skills you pick up during this period will save you a lot of time later when you’re teaching on your own.
Late hours and packed holidays: Since this is a tuition job, classes usually start in the afternoon and end quite late. You’ll probably work one weekend, but you do get Monday and another weekend day off, so it balances out. The school holidays are the busiest time. It would be good to expect long days (sometimes 9am–9pm), but that’s really just part of the nature of the job. You can sound out early and get given less classes if that is something you don't mind giving up -- holidays are really the best time to earn money even for us as teachers.
