Pros

Co-workers are nice Relatively easy work days

Cons

During the interview and training process, it seems like The Strong is going to be a really great place to work. Everyone is happy and talks about how much they love working there (this is coming from full-time upper management). Then you start work. My first day after training, which was just being shown around the museum and completing paperwork, I was put on the floor and told to starting cleaning up. The managers seemed stressed out because they were understaffed (a common occurrence) and rushed to explain things. It took me almost 2 and a half months to be fully trained in each area of the museum. During the interview process, the managers made it a point to say that they were flexible with scheduling and accommodating for other jobs, but they kept putting me on the schedule for 5 shifts a week (after I had requested 3 or 4) and acted surprised when I brought it up month after month (this happened for my first three months). Despite saying they are flexible, because they are understaffed, they will put you on the schedule for as much as they can so they don't have to hire more people. You also only get a 30 minute break if you work for at least six hours. Otherwise no break. Not even a ten minute break. You can call over the radio and ask for a moment "off-stage" but that is a two minute bathroom break or to refill your water bottle. Lastly, all the people hired most recently were hired for specific schedules. The other employees could hand in monthly availabilities and time off requests, but the new employees had to speak with managers about scheduling issues and asking for time off. Didn't really seem fair to treat the new people differently.
