Pros
During my time at Thinkso I grew tremendously as a professional. I joined the firm early in my career, and while there I gained and sharpened skills that I continue to use today. The work is complex and intellectually stimulating, and expectations are high. The quality of those who join—and remain with—the firm is second to none. It’s not a place for slackers—come prepared to take the work seriously and apply yourself. The partners really care about delivering excellence to clients, and clients clearly appreciate this. Thinkso’s project and client management are exceptional. Yes, there’s a lot of “process”—but that’s because it works. When you’re handling projects of this scale and clients of this caliber (in my time there I worked with a number of high-profile financial services clients) this is par for the course. These clients expect excellence and Thinkso delivers. I primarily worked with Elizabeth, and you won’t find a sharper mind in the business. I learned a huge amount from her in terms of strategy, brand, copywriting, project management, and general professionalism. Her standards are high, but she’s also an employer who really takes the time to invest in her employees and help them grow. The partners want everyone to succeed, and they are generally quite receptive to feedback. Check-ins were very regular and I never felt stranded or lost—expectations were clear and communication was direct and open.
Cons
As with any NYC agency, there will occasionally be some tight deadlines and long hours—but it’s nothing that felt unmanageable. Not really a “con,” but as mentioned, standards are high. You can’t really hide behind BS, so don’t come in expecting to slide by without actually putting the effort in.
