Backwater dump with incompetent leadership - Nurse Practitioner TidalHealth Employee Review

Pros

There are hardworking, intelligent people employed here, but leadership is too focused on growth to care about patient safety and quality of care. The town of Salisbury is high-crime and economically depressed with few jobs or job growth. Alongside chicken processing, healthcare is a very large employer in this area. This hospital is an essential community resource, and its patients would be better served if new executive leadership was appointed.

Cons

1. The executives believe in eliminating essential positions to fund growth. 2. The hospital is chronically understaffed in all personnel categories, including physicians, APPs, nurses, and techs. Rather than investing in full time permanent personnel, the hospital relies heavily on locums providers and travel nurses. 3. Nurses at TidalHealth are the lowest paid in the region. 4. The hospitalist APP group had their vacation benefit revoked. Many of them left. 5. APPs salary caps out early on in one's career. 6. There are many physicians here on 3-year visas. They are contractually required to give 6 months notice before renewal if they intend to move on to a new institution. Maybe this is standard, but nonetheless seems confining. 7. New APPs are required to sign a contract committing to two years with the institution at the time of hire. 8. APPs often work late and are not paid overtime. 9. Many essential lifesaving resources and personnel are not available on weekends. Much of the essential equipment is antiquated and/or broken, as is the facility in general. 10. The employee health insurance is inadequate.
