Pros

Amazing work life balance. I rarely was expected to stay until the end of the day if all the work was done. Incredible culture as far as family and low stress goes. The management I was hired under (old management before things became more coperate) made a very strong attempt to make sure employees that didn't click or evenly share a workload weren't kept around for long. Ting will go down as one of my favorite places to work despite some major flaws. The relaxed attitude, though slowly dying out, was such a joy. Get your job done, work hard, go home. Simple as that.

Cons

Pay. Pay. Pay. ~$10 less an hour on average for every position, often even more. I was pretty well experienced, and still brought in at $12 less than the local competitors with only a 3% pay increase in almost two years. Management started out strong, but about 6 months in they made some major changes. They hired people from massive ISP's who brought a ton of corporate nonsense with them. Job preformance tracking based on how long it took you on a job started becoming a thing. Metrics became a big word. Ting lost its "mom and pop" "local buisness" feel. In my specific town, there was some pretty blatant and insane nepotism. People were allowed to lead who struggled with basic functions of the job like reading and writing, or people who would sit around and/or hide most of the day and create more work for the people under them. When those people were confronted, they were able to game the HR system, and claim bullying, effectively getting off scott free. This is the biggest con and ultimately it broke up one of the best teams of outside plant and drop installation personnel I will ever work with.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and comprehensive feedback - we really do appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We read all responses and use them to help inform our decisions around how we can continue to make sure Ting is a great place to work. Since building an in-house Ting dedicated HR function earlier this year we are taking the time to ensure we capture feedback to uncover any core concerns and issues, especially around performance and culture. We’ve also been working with our colleagues in the compensation team to update our pay bands and wages to align with the market. We know from our Employee Experience survey that the vast majority of our employees just love working at Ting and that our culture stands out as a bright light against our competitors. As we grow and mature as an organization we aim to maintain that great culture, while also ensuring we have the right policies and practices in place that promote the right behaviours. While we’re happy to hear that you enjoyed your time working at Ting, and that you’d recommend us to others looking for work in the fiber internet / ISP space, Ting’s HR leader would welcome the opportunity to have a more in depth confidential discussion about the specifics of some of the claims made here - all insights help to guide us and our decisions. Please reach out to Kerris at talktous@ting.com - thank you!

Work from home. Great people to work with.

Cons

Pay is low for the frustration of dealing with customers and wonky systems.
