Pros

If you want to be in the movie "Mean girls", and only wear pink on Wednesdays and say "you can't sit with us at lunch" this company is for you! Frat culture and sorority culture with huge lack of professionalism. Drinking is a must to fit in. If you do not drink, you will be passive aggressively shamed as "not cool". Ageism is prevalent here. If you are over the age of 25, you are "old" and "not cool". You will be shunned from your team in a silent passive aggressive way that doesn't get anyone doing the shaming in trouble. You feel like you are pledging Zi Beta Pi at Toast for class of 2019 and the pledge master doesn't care about how smart you are; they care about how popular you are. This is not what "tech" is supposed to be about. Complete culture miss.

Cons

This is the worst company to work for. The pay is extremely low compared to market rate. The amount of work is ridiculously high. According to Toast, work life balance consists of drinking free beer in the pub and attending drinking parties sponsored by the company. The company disregards diversity (people who do not drink), and does not give back in ways a tradition employer does (401k match has a vesting cliff for employer contribution matches). Less parties please, and put the money into the "benefits" you say you offer.

I appreciate you leaving your feedback, although I’m disappointed to read about your experience. Your review indicates that you’re a former employee, so I’m unsure of when you left Toast, but based on your feedback, it sounds like it was quite a while ago. Let me tell you about our team now. The recruiting team has doubled in size over the past year and we’re proud to welcome teammates at all stages of their careers and lives to our team. We’ve also made significant upgrades to our benefits program this year, so in addition to unlimited PTO and our sabbatical program, we’ve enhanced our health insurance offerings, improved our parental leave policy and added a fitness reimbursement policy. Similar to many other tech companies, we do offer a variety of free snacks and beverages to all employees, with the expectation that our employees will act responsibly. Our employee events are a mix of social gatherings, often times family friendly , volunteer opportunities, and learning opportunities. Again, I apologize that you had such a negative experience at Toast. If you’re open to it, I’d be happy to connect so that you can share additional feedback. Wishing you the best in your new opportunity. Thanks, Mike

Pros

-Strong pay (if you hit your numbers) -Ambitious goals that challenge you -Competitive landscape that will force you to get better beyond exclusively selling -Founders still very involved and very visible to the company and employees -Team cultures are always strong -For sales, you always get in touch with prospects, which is an underrated pro -When leadership promotes internal mobility and career development they mean it and support it

Cons

-Numerous Sales teams that share the same markets/TAMs. Customers and prospects get exhausted of outreach - Since going public, the goal posts keep moving forward even if 60% of the org hit goal. -A number of core leaders have left, new ones still learning the ropes which was hindering the orgs and teams
