Pros
Free bean-grinder coffee machine and bowls of sweets put out regularly.
Cons
Strictly hierarchical - management frown on you talking to any manager above them. Senior management doesn't talk to you, you don't talk to them. Bully culture - I have regularly seen first hand many fear tactics used like job loss threats, surprise firings, public belittling, ambush meetings, reports skewed intentionally to make other people and teams look bad. Selective treatment - Contractors and onsite vendors are treated as badly and they do take the fall for permanents, who are impossible to let go. Churn - Particularly in IT, some teams have a large amount of staff turnover. HR don't have the skills or tools to curb the knowledge walking out the door and it's frustrating to watch. There are only a few teams that are stable, so if you are being hired off the street, it's likely you are moving in to a high churn team. There is a reason for the churn, so proceed with caution. The only people not looking to leave are people that are new, those that don't know any better or those who are probably getting paid more than they should.
