Disappointing Experience Despite Initial Promise - Marketing Manager Treasury Wine Estates Employee Review

Pros

Basic processes are in place—pretty good, well-rounded benefits.

Cons

--- I joined the company with optimism and a clear mandate to help modernize processes and drive improvement. Unfortunately, after spending over a year there, it became clear that while the company presents well externally, internal realities tell a different story. Efforts to implement change are often met with resistance, and systems feel designed to maintain the status quo rather than empower progress. Fairness and respect seem to vary by hierarchy, and lower-level employees are often at a disadvantage. Compensation also lags behind industry standards, which contributes to low morale. I would give is zero rating if I could. On paper they are anti-bullying policies, but in reality they don't hesitate tolerating it. Honest, hard-working people are crushed by loud and bulldozing individuals (a.k.a. senior managers). It’s disheartening because the company has strong potential and a respected brand, but that promise is undermined by inconsistent leadership and outdated practices. Like many large organizations, good policies and values tend to get lost in translation as they move through layers of management.

Pros

I was hired on a full-time, fixed term basis in October. From day one, the team I work with (and everyone else I've met) has been warm, welcoming, and helpful. * I received my email address, a company cell phone and company laptop on my first day. That's outstanding for a permanent employee and I'm a temp! * I was provided with time to complete online and other training rather than being thrown into the fray immediately. There was no judgement or pressure if I didn't remember how to do something or where something was after initial training. * I was absolutely astounded that I was eligible for benefits the month after I started. Employers I've worked for in the past don't provide benefits until 90 days have been completed * There is a lot of self-paced, online training to orient new staff to the company and industry as a whole. * There are a few things that I'm not comfortable doing due to some physical limitations. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to carry my own weight, but the team here was not just understanding, they were very supportive and made sure I was assigned work that I could complete without issue.

Cons

* Treasure is a large company, and I had worked at 5 amazing wineries by the time I'd been here two months. This is one of the things I love about this job - there is always something to learn and every day is different. That said, in someways, it's like I had 5 "first days" which can be a bit stressful. However, staff at the wineries were very understanding and helpful.
