Pros

• Mr. Wilson (CEO) is a very down to earth CEO. He knows virtually everyone by name and what department they work in. It’s very unique and something you won’t see at other Companies • There really isn’t a dress code (besides Finance and Accounting) • Very progressive workspace. Not quite as good as Google or other Software Companies

Cons

Before I jump into Cons, a little background from inside the Company and how it relates to the other comments within this thread: 1. Every comment you read that is 3 stars or below is very accurate 2. The comments you read that are positive are due to the following: a. Tubemogul encourages new hires to post on Glassdoor during orientation b. HR frequently visits Glassdoor and posts catchy slogans such as “Go Big of Go Home”, “Work Hard, Play Harder” or “Great Potential…”. The Cons: 1. Work life balance a. To succeed here, you need to eat/sleep/breathe Tubumogul b. Prepare to lose your significant other and have a relationship with someone at work since you will be seeing them for 14 hours a day only to have them leave 6 months later (average length of employment at Tubemogul) c. Deadlines aren’t reasonable i. I once had 6 hours’ worth of meetings with management only for them to ask me about a project I was working on and expectations that I stay as late as it took for me to finish it three days ahead of schedule d. You are expected to work weekends 2. Management a. Tubemogul has a broken system as it deals with management i. Most managers have been there for many years. In doing so, many do a rather brilliant job delegating work so they can work a 9-5 while their subordinates slave over the insane amount of work ii. When management spots do open, Tubemogul normally does not promote Leads to Management. They hire outside individuals iii. Managers who attempt to “fight they system” to make changes to the philosophy are put on PIPs and let go shortly after 3. Career Growth a. Simply put, there is none (aside from engineers who run the Company). It’s very much a “next man up” attitude as it deals with jobs. i. Account managers are over loaded and are often bashed by their managers which prevents them from moving up the ladder ii. No one knows what HR does but I have yet to see someone from within get promoted iii. Accounting and Finance are the individuals I truly feel bad for. Unless you’re the Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller, you’re not gaining skills that can transferable at a senior level. The majority of them spend their days in Netsuite trying to format the data or on an excel schedule trying to make it balance with the General Ledger. The others who have senior/lead titles would be demoted to a staff level if they went to another Company.

Pros

- Amazingly intelligent and empathetic co-workers. Above all else, the people you work with here won't make you dread getting out of bed each morning. - Huge industry opportunity at the intersection of technology and advertising. Above-average product and compelling SaaS-based business model. - Clear value proposition in a notoriously opaque industry. - Senior leadership is overly transparent - sometimes, almost to a fault - with the broader employee base about company direction and strategy. - Scaled, innovative culture; start-up feel at a 700+ person company. Great perks, above-average benefits. - Merit-based performance review: top individual contributors and managers are afforded growth opportunities both vertically and horizontally within the organization. This is not a place where you should ever feel stifled - if you have a way to improve upon process or output, don't ask. Just do it. Even if it doesn't stick, you will be recognized. - Let's be clear: this is a values-based company. Yes, it is publicly traded. But it hasn't been profitable in the 2.5 years since IPO'ing, and if the C-levels were concerned about proving to Wall Street the company could turn a profit, they would have fired the majority of its sales staff like EVERY other ad tech company has already done.

Cons

- Engineering turnover. Understandable in the Bay Area. - Compensation has improved, but remains at- or below-market. - Organizational communication and general infrastructure are wanting. The nature of the industry and the reality of technology companies means that the company often sacrifices long-term stability for short-term relief.
