Pros

I love working for USIT. The company hosts company-wide events at venues like the Homestead, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and the Jefferson Hotel. These events are well planned with give-away items such as a free trip to Banff Canada or a project-trivia game (jeopardy style) that gives away real money for every right answer. USIT is one of the few companies that offer an Employee Stock Ownership Plan so employees have a stake in the company's future. They also provide a matching 401k plan, and have a generous leave policy. Employees receive up to four weeks of technical training per year. Who does that anymore? The company seems to have a thorough interviewing process and only hires consultants who are at the top of their game. In the event that a project ends, the company is not quick to terminate you, but rather spends time with you trying to identify an alternative assignment or career plan. In a few instances I’m aware of, they’ve sent people to training to have them trained in a new skill area. While I was on the bench, I received training and worked on an internal project to prepare for my next assignment. This is in sharp contrast to other companies that are quick to pull the trigger as soon as you’re no longer billable. The only people that seem to leave are the ones that aren’t willing to work hard, aren’t willing or just simply don’t seem to care. There are obviously people on the street that couldn't "cut it" at USIT. The company has been on the list of the top 50 Best Places to work in Virginia for the last three years as voted by their own employees. They must be doing something right for the folks that can "cut it" I don’t anyone who hasn’t benefited directly by working for this company.

Cons

What’s not to like about a company that's growing, hires the best people, and rewards their people well?

Pros

I guess I'm either oblivious with what is going on this company or some of the reviewers are just really disgruntled. I've seen reviews like this before and just assume the people that wrote them were probably fired and just looking for a way to get revenge. With every company there are the good things and the not so good things. Overall I think US Information Technologies is a good company with some of the best technical professionals that I've ever worked with. I think there are a lot of really talented people working on the latest Oracle technologies and many satisfied clients. If the company was so bad then why is the win rate on our recompete business a 100%? My fellow colleagues and I work hard and have great working relationships with our clients. Seeing these reviews that really bash the company is disturbing because it isn't all true...at least not for the people I work with. We work hard and yes the hours can be long, but I really like my project/client and the technical challenges. The company has a good vacation program and decent benefits. Also, the fact that this company is an Oracle partner is great....we receive good training and opportunities to work on new Oracle technologies. Competitive salary. I didn't interview with CTO, which I guess I'm glad because I heard his interviews were a little rough. The interactions I've had with the CEO have been good. We've met at a couple of work functions and some of my teammates who have worked for him for a long time seem to be very dedicated and loyal to him. Seems to be a lot of new people in the corporate office, hopefully they bring new ideas with them on how to make this company even more successful.

Cons

Sometimes the work hours are long but that is typical for the type of position I am in. One or two of the long time Sr. Mgrs can be difficult to deal with but I don't have to deal with them daily. Lack of corporate mgmt communication to the employees in the field. Regular updates from the corporate office on the "state of the company" would be nice. ESOP - don't really understand the benefit. Would like to know more about the other projects that are going on within the company and potential opportunities on new projects/wins.
