Pros

Worked with a great team

Cons

Driven solely by money not customers. Lack business acumen and unrealistic targets. No understanding of the market. Expensive when there are free choices available. Expect employees to pay for their own equipment and then watch you through hubstaff big brother style. Have monthly meet ups where employees are expected to fund travel costs. Ridiculous holiday, you are expected to take 10 days off at Christmas to suit the Headmaster and then bank holidays are included in your holidays so you have to work these if you don’t have enough holiday free at the normal rate. Read the contract, everything is geared to benefit UniAdmissions not the employee including the pension, they will only pay the minimum in line with the legal requirements.

Pros

- Payment is on time - Some resources are available

Cons

- Potential parents: the site says that they rigorously interview all their tutors, but that is not true. For myself and a bunch of other tutors, merely submitting a CV was enough to get us registered on the platform - they didn't even speak to us over a call. - They pay £23 an hour, and I guess that they charge at least £70-100 an hour - this is really crappy pay given that, after they allocate students to tutors, management basically has no useful function at all. - No cancellation policy for tutors, so your student can be a no-show and you get no compensation at all. This only encourages students to be irresponsible and is extremely disrespectful to tutors and their time. - The resources they provide have errors in them and are badly written because they're just written by university students with limited/no experience beyond doing the given admissions test themselves for low pay - Management can often be unresponsive despite them being responsible for liaising between us and students if there are any issues

Thank you for your honest review! We've worked on the cancellation policy and improved this to make it equally fair on both student and tutor. We've also set up a new tutor communications line, and a new tutor team training, perks and pay rates to make sure that our tutors can develop and support each other too.

Pros

Steady stream of students You don’t have to hunt for clients. They fill your calendar for you. Reliable pay + punctual payments They pay on time and the admin side is professional. Structured materials and training Good if you prefer following existing frameworks rather than designing your own. Reputation helps with getting students Parents trust the brand, so they’re less demanding when starting with you. Easy entry If you’re at a top uni, you get in quickly. No crazy interview or vetting. Good for building basic tutoring experience Especially for MMIs, UCAT, personal statements, etc.

Cons

Pay is mid once you factor in unpaid work After prep, marking, messaging, and admin, your real hourly rate drops. Rigid structure Their templates and approach can feel restrictive if you already know how to tutor well. Students vary wildly Some are great; others drain you. You don’t choose your cohort. You’re replaceable Large tutor pool = they don’t invest in you personally. Time creep “Flexible” isn’t really flexible. Messaging + feedback means you’re essentially on-call. Little autonomy over your teaching style You’re expected to follow their programme, even when you know a better way. Not impressive on a CV It’s okay, but not meaningful if you already have stronger academic/clinical experience.
