Pros

I have very little to say here, besides the fact that my experience has taught me a number of red flags to watch out for in a working environment, and that there's something in the old saying you should choose your boss first and foremost, not your job.

Cons

Echoing just about every other review from full-time staff on this page, I would strongly encourage anyone considering a job (especially in the sales dept) at UniAdmissions to turn and run. For a man who succeeded in one of the most competitive medical school admissions processes in the world and built a business off the back of it, the Managing Director’s total lack of emotional, social and managerial intelligence is remarkable. They say that a disproportionate number of business leaders are psychopaths, and in fairness it’s probably better that this one remains in charge of a handful of careers rather than the lives of countless of vulnerable people. To give you an idea of how long you might expect to hold a full-time job here: in the two years that I worked at UniAdmissions, 4 sales managers came and went, and probably twice as many salespeople working under them were hired and soon after fired (or else left for the benefit of their mental health) at Dr Agarwal’s whim. If you still intend to take a position, please proceed on the basis that you are working with someone who, if they see any opportunity whatsoever to screw you over, will do so – and save yourself a legal battle by thoroughly reading any contracts he demands that you sign within 24 hours, making or requesting written copies of any ‘verbal contracts’ he offers, as well as keeping complete personal records of your performance against any targets he might set for you and subsequently renege. I sincerely hope that one day a sufficient number of good employees escape the MD's grip that he is brought to some sort of realisation and calls every one of his values into question. But if he is reading this, I’ll spell it out to him for free, for the sake of all future staff: in the long term, a company culture of mutual respect is a far easier and more fruitful way to manage intelligent, conscientious and capable young graduates than a rule reliant on threats, fear, deceit and distrust, screen monitoring and micro-management. Leaving this company is probably the best decision I have ever made and I wish the same for all currently working there.

Thank you for your review. It's really appreciated. We are really sorry that you did not feel that you could discuss this with another member of the Team. We are continually working on improving the contracts and the expectations of the Team- most importantly improving the leadership drive too. We make our expectations clear on day one and empower team members to make their own decisions. We appreciate your service with the company and regret that you did not raise any of the above issues during your tenure with us, in your notice period, exit interview or form. We are sorry that you felt your manager was not a good fit for your style of work. We take issues like this very seriously and would be happy to discuss them with you in further detail. We wish you the best for your future career and hope that the many transferable skills that you learned with us and the benefits you enjoyed (sales bonuses, paid ski trips, management coaching, international travel expenses etc.) will stand you in good stead. The company has continued to grow from strength to strength since you left and we look forward to even bigger and better years. Should you wish to discuss things further, please contact us on info@uniadmissions.co.uk

Pros

- Payment is on time - Some resources are available

Cons

- Potential parents: the site says that they rigorously interview all their tutors, but that is not true. For myself and a bunch of other tutors, merely submitting a CV was enough to get us registered on the platform - they didn't even speak to us over a call. - They pay £23 an hour, and I guess that they charge at least £70-100 an hour - this is really crappy pay given that, after they allocate students to tutors, management basically has no useful function at all. - No cancellation policy for tutors, so your student can be a no-show and you get no compensation at all. This only encourages students to be irresponsible and is extremely disrespectful to tutors and their time. - The resources they provide have errors in them and are badly written because they're just written by university students with limited/no experience beyond doing the given admissions test themselves for low pay - Management can often be unresponsive despite them being responsible for liaising between us and students if there are any issues

Thank you for your honest review! We've worked on the cancellation policy and improved this to make it equally fair on both student and tutor. We've also set up a new tutor communications line, and a new tutor team training, perks and pay rates to make sure that our tutors can develop and support each other too.

Pros

Steady stream of students You don’t have to hunt for clients. They fill your calendar for you. Reliable pay + punctual payments They pay on time and the admin side is professional. Structured materials and training Good if you prefer following existing frameworks rather than designing your own. Reputation helps with getting students Parents trust the brand, so they’re less demanding when starting with you. Easy entry If you’re at a top uni, you get in quickly. No crazy interview or vetting. Good for building basic tutoring experience Especially for MMIs, UCAT, personal statements, etc.

Cons

Pay is mid once you factor in unpaid work After prep, marking, messaging, and admin, your real hourly rate drops. Rigid structure Their templates and approach can feel restrictive if you already know how to tutor well. Students vary wildly Some are great; others drain you. You don’t choose your cohort. You’re replaceable Large tutor pool = they don’t invest in you personally. Time creep “Flexible” isn’t really flexible. Messaging + feedback means you’re essentially on-call. Little autonomy over your teaching style You’re expected to follow their programme, even when you know a better way. Not impressive on a CV It’s okay, but not meaningful if you already have stronger academic/clinical experience.
