Is this your company?

Pros

Since the owner changes his mind depending upon who was in his office last, management is able to talk him into occasional incentives for staff based on performance. Bonuses are no longer relevant as the company does not have the same contract, which prevents staff from earning the bonuses claimed in previous responses.

Cons

Owner is not qualified to do the job of anyone employed within the company. Absentee ownership has allowed for substantial employee theft, that, when reported, was swept under the rug and never addressed. Company still owes thousands of dollars in unpaid commissions earned by staff. Very little training. You could be breaking the law and not even know it as a new employee. Collectors are encouraged to circumvent regulations as mandated by clients in order to increase productivity and the bottom line. Accrued and paid time off, as well as commissions, are never accurate in spite of repeated attempts at notifying ownership of the issues. No in-house background checks are conducted prior to hiring employees, in spite of the fact that collectors routinely handle sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, credit cards, checking account information, credit reports, etc. There is no medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage available through this employer. There is no 401(k) nor any sort of retirement program available. There are no employee evaluations, raises or bonuses at this company. Morale is nonexistent here. The collection floor is concrete, and there is no sound suppression or baffling within the building. It is very difficult to work in this environment as everyone is on the phone all day, every day. The collection floor floods when there is heavy rainfall, there is no pest control service so there is an infestation of vermin, the heating and air-conditioning unit routinely go out, the lighting is poor, and you will be sitting at a desk that is probably 2‘ x 3‘ in size. I could go on and on about all of the violations occurring within this organization, but with no contracts in the near future, no staff left (perhaps 5 remain?) and with the company losing money every month, it’s only a matter of time before the business goes under anyhow.

Pros

Mr. Cameron, President of Uniquity Financial took a chance on me. When I came to Uniquity, I was going through a divorce, dealing with an unrelated legal issue, and was a mess. During the time there, he, and the Collection Manager got me trained and helped me remain focused, and after 3 months there, I finished second in revenue. When I was there, management was pretty understanding about family events, and as long as you were both performing and made up your time, didn't mind a longer lunch to handle an appointment or a parent-teacher conference. Sadly, I let my focus and outside issues (including a health one) get in the way, and I believe I was terminated for attendance issues. With that said, come in and expect to dial. Make calls, but be smart about them. Skiptracing is an art and science, and the tools available are among the best. I'd say hands down that this was the best job I've ever had. If I thought I could get rehired, I'd do it in a second. No joke. This is seriously a 300K a year job.

Cons

During my time there, the compensation plan was changed. But that particular one was done in order to protect the business (something I understood, given my long history of self-employment). Mr. Cameron, the company president is particular. He understands the industry, and has a forward thinking, long term vision for the company. But, he also has a low tolerance for malarkey in the workplace. If you don't want to work, or want to come in with less than your A-game, don't bother. Oh, and no benefits is an issue, especially with Obamacare being the law of the land now.

Uniquity's leadership appreciates this candid post. The only counter response that I believe should be noted is that "Health & Welfare Compensation" is indeed included in our hourly base pay as mandated by the US Dept of Labor for federal contractors.

Pros

The bonuses are great and has some talented collectors

Cons

Unreasonable expectations of the collectors in terms of time management, procedural execution. Constant shifting of the sometimes inscrutable goal posts and bonus structure changes frequently. Little to no upward mobility or professional development, although the owner tells every collector they will be in management one day. Few educated professionals employed as most are "stuck" there because of a lack of higher education. The owner knows small incremental change usually goes unnoticed so he makes adjustments in that manner and and there's a new policy almost daily as a result of questioning the already questionable business practices. Minimal oversight of managerial interpersonal behavior, therefore a prescription for abusive behavior. This list could go on, but I think you're getting the idea. Although there's usually no tangible product, it's a veritable sweat shop, not unlike most collection agency/call center environments. Also zero benefits, zero.

Uniquity Financial Response

Uniquity has only had 3 employees leave in the past several years, so our team knows fairly well the anonymous former employee. They were fired for a number of reasons (no show-no call, poor performance, etc.). The former employee stated, "bonuses were great but goals were unrealistic"??? 14 out of 15 employees are hitting their goal and making bonuses!!! Every month we are distributing $47,000 to $62,000 among 15 employee. That's on average of a $2,500 monthly bonus + a $3,300 monthly salary. All but one new employee will be receiving their bonus for November. Our highest bonus earners this month $13,143.87, the lowest $1,190. Uniquity doesn't employ just anyone, we are seeking champions. And if someone sells us that they are a champion, yet in the work environment they under perform, can't get to work on time, have no self control and screw around instead of putting their hand to the plow and work . . . they won't make it long in this career opportunity.
