Pros

- Summer Fridays, Celebration Days & classpass membership.

Cons

Unfortunately Unmind is one of those companies that looks perfect on the outside and for the first few months you feel incredibly lucky to work there, but after time you begin to see the reality of the company. The main issues are: - Like a typical start up, there are many people in management positions because they joined early in the companies history not because they’re the best person for the job. As such, illogical, rash and damaging decisions are made which are inevitably scrapped after a few months so ‘change fatigue’ is a real thing. - Staff don’t have access to adequate mental health support which is ironic given the nature of the company. - Socials revolve solely around alcohol so if you don’t drink there’s nothing really for you. - Internally it’s very cliquey and whilst people are friendly, it can be tough to break into cliques. - Culturally it’s very hypocritical. Expect to see lots of LinkedIn/ social media posts about how much they care about employees but it becomes quickly apparent these are tokenistic gestures aimed at looking good on the outside. - There is no/ little room for career progression or salary raises. - During the hiring process you will be promised the world however when you arrive you will soon learn these were empty promises. - The product has very little uptake amongst clients, it’s clunky and takes months/ years for any meaningful updates to be completed so if you are in a commercial role it is near impossible to sell the product as it’s miles behind any competitors. - At first the CEO comes across as so inspiring and genuine but over time it becomes clear they are just a shrewd businessman who has just monetised a problem in the mental health system. I spent such a long time wanting to work for Unmind but it was a total nightmare and hopefully others will see this and avoid making the same mistake.

Hello, thank you for this candid feedback. I am sorry to learn that you don't feel Unmind practices what we preach. Wellbeing and development are a big focus for us and we're always trying to think progressively about how we could do better. In your experience, if we aren't hitting the mark then I would love to take you up on your advice above and learn from any suggestions you might have (Please reach out to us at peopleteam@unmind.com). It's worth mentioning that we run performance cycles twice a year and will always look to develop our internal talent to ensure that Unminders are growing with us. Over 30% of team members develop into new roles each year. I agree that People managers play an important role in the business and your feedback is helpful in reinforcing our belief that we need to continue our investment in training and knowledge sharing.

Pros

Psychologically Safe, mentally healthy, and high performing culture. We work hard, but it is never at the detriment of our mental health. Amazing product, even better team. Leaders who truly care. Comp & Bens are top notch

Cons

Not many to note. Some typical growing pains of a 8 yr old company in such a massive market.

Pros

- Good pay - good benefits - Gain lots of experience - Kind CEO - Mission

Cons

I didn’t want to write this review, not wanting to say anything negative and move on. But, after HR ignoring my requests to provide info for unemployment for weeks, I’ve become very frustrated. Job: If you are looking to start your career in a revenue facing entry level position, be wary. The revenue goals are aggressive to say the least which is understandable for a high growth start up, but the company is not equipped for an entry level position. Your goals are lofty and you aren’t supplied the correct resources to succeed. Management is disorganized and goals are consistently changing, leaving others confused and frustrated. If you are highly experienced with connections, you may have a better time. In fact, one of the seniors of the company told me flat out “Many people come in mission driven, but not many make it”. Culture: As a mental health company, they boast an inclusive, supportive culture, but it depends. You’ll need to fit into a very specific demographic to be included, and if not, you may be as uncomfortable as I was. The culture is undermined by the cut throat revenue generation. Any revenue generation role is stressful for sure, but their high turnover cut throat policy does not align with the flowery, positive mental health veil they preach. If you agree with the mission and are passionate, I wish you luck, but the entire experience left a rotten taste in my mouth.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your experience at Unmind. We appreciate your honesty and want to address your concerns. Firstly, we are pleased to hear that you found our compensation, benefits, and overall mission to be positive aspects of your time with us as well as the considerable experience you gained during your tenure. However, we are genuinely sorry to hear about the challenges you have addressed and thank you for sharing them. Over the festive period we invited the company to switch off to recharge and this may have impacted on the timelines of the response from our People team. Our mission is absolutely central to the work we do and as a start up in the B2B space, we fully recognise this also means ambitious goals, a fast paced environment and lots of change. We are committed to supporting our teams to do their best work and creating an inclusive environment, so we would very much appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns further and gain additional insights. Please feel free to reach out to: Peopleteam@unmind.com Once again, thank you for your feedback, and we wish you the best in your future endeavours.
