Pros
I've been fortunate enough to be a part of several different departments at Upanup as well as be a part of many project teams and committees at Upanup. I've worked out all three of our Victoria offices over the years, and have a great office setup including a sit/stand desk and top-notch equipment (e.g. laptop, phone). I've also loved getting out of the office on our "Monday Fundays" once a month where we go out for a walk or coffee/ice cream, have a bocce game or BBQ on the deck, or go to the art gallery (etc.!). As well as team-based activities, I've also got a great deal of personal satisfaction from volunteering to serve lunches at a local non-profit which helps with homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use issues, the working poor, and impoverished elderly. I've been free to do lots of training/learning (e.g. completing online certificates, attending industry conferences), and lead internal training on various topics--from working with Indigenous Peoples to Google Analytics/Ads. The things I love the most about Upanup though are the company's commitment to its values, and working with friendly, competent, hard-working coworkers.
Cons
The same that's great about working at a marketing agency is also what's hard about it: a lot of what we do is custom and unique--from project to project, and from client to client. Therefore, you need to be able to tolerate, or ideally embrace, change.
