Declining Platform with Unreliable App and Reduced Therapist Pay - Licensed Massage Therapist Urban Employee Review

Pros

I can't see any "Pros" at the moment, all were left in the past, before Urban was sold to Soothe (USA).

Cons

Working with Urban Massage has unfortunately become increasingly frustrating over time. The company takes around 40–45% commission from each booking, while at the same time reducing therapists’ fees by approximately 10%. Despite this, they advertise roles with claims of “up to £47/hour + tips,” which feels quite cheeky in a city like London where tipping is not common practice. It creates an unrealistic impression of earnings. The recent app update has made things significantly worse. The new system is full of glitches and often fails to send notifications about bookings and messages. This directly affects therapists’ ability to pick up work and communicate with clients. Customer support is also unreliable. When issues come up, it’s difficult to get timely help, leaving therapists stuck dealing with problems on their own. Overall, what used to be a convenient platform has become stressful and difficult to rely on.
