Pros
People working there are very devoted and give their 120%, and usually great to work with, manage to try to have fun together at work even though not easy everyday. You definitely do not see days go by. Job always has a part of ''new situations'' that makes it at challenge. Near management (operational) do their best and motivates their team into teamworking. Insurance plan available.
Cons
Procedures are heavy, leads to lack of efficiency and overwork. Hard to coordinate different departments together... there's a sense of ''not my business'' which makes it hard to work together and make things really happen for the clients...Experienced within a same terminal and between terminals. HR management is considered as coordinating pays, SST, and collective agreement for dock staff more than anything else....there's poor connection between higher management and staff. Poor recognition of your work - but by your near management -, pay raises under IPC and no real link with performance. No skill development for office staff, and very few options for career progression. Chances are: the job you got there first is the job you'll leave years after.
