Pros

the open concept is phenomenal but not sure that it is worth all the turmoil that I have endured.

Cons

#1 PROMISE: work/life balance that no other hospital has offered - FALSE since starting at VEG I have worked 14-15 hour shifts with no break! I also work 4-5 nights a week which was also a promise that would not occur but has occurred on more occasions than not. #2 PROMISE: They promised that they would supply us with groceries - I am constantly starving and all we get are little organic snack bars or greasy potato chips! #3 PROMISE: an environment where gossip WAS NOT A THING!! AKA ARMADILLO!! - ONE OF DAVID BESSLERS MANIFESTO'S - Armadillo - Our code word to stop negativity and gossip people are NOT following this Manifesto and continue to be awful to each other. So therefore, if you are trying to avoid the brutality of the vet world then this will not be the place! Also this is a cult!!! They make their leadership team to conform to their ways and eventually you will start to notice a change. Your voice is no longer heard and you almost feel COMPLETELY alone!! The other issue that I have with this company is that they are growing WAY too fast! They have opened 2 locations in Austin (south lamar/north central aka arboretum) and they are opening a 3rd location in cedar park when we can barely staff the 2 that just opened! We are having to use travel nurses to sustain the workload that we have and it is still not enough

Pros

Clients get to stay with their pets-this is so beneficial for helping the patients feel reassured and comforted during their stay.

Cons

The work ethic of the support staff is deplorable. There is chronic laziness throughout the staff (except for a few staff members who consistently work hard). VEG is known for hiring really young DVMs, and although they complete the 1 yr NERD program, many come out unprepared, are practicing medicine without continued mentorship, make grave medical errors, misdiagnose, and are incompetent surgeons.
