Pros

- Remote-first engineering team - Supportive teammates who are a pleasure to work with - That’s pretty much it :(

Cons

The direction of the company used to feel promising, but the decline’s been hard to ignore: - The self-proclaimed "CTO" is not competent. He ignores technical input, defaults to buzzwords, and encourages division between teammates rather than cross-functional collaboration - Engineers are siloed and treated like resources whose only purpose is to pump out code. We're discouraged from collaborating or driving solutions across teams - The COO now manages Product and Design but lacks the expertise to lead a product team effectively - There is no consistency, momentum and ownership don't exist, despite leadership claims to the contrary - Leadership rewards saying “yes” over being right. Engineering leadership decisions feel performative rather than thoughtful

Pros

1. Some great people at this company 2. Remote work

Cons

Decisions are often made hastily, without enough information, and this is resulting in bad decisions. I'm not sure if there is enough listening to our actual customers. To one particular leader, I also wish to convey a message that it would be wise to refrain from casting shadows on others. Such actions do little for your own reputation and the shade is not subtle. This isn't the first time this person has attributed poor outcomes to an individuals contributions rather than lack of product market fit and leadership decisions. I guess it's much easier to throw an employee under the bus. More effort should be made to distinguish between these things.

Pros

Having endured VendorPm unhealthy work environment, my new job at the new company is going to be like a walk in the park in comparison.

Cons

The very high engineering employee turnover rate speaks volumes about how dissatisfied the workforce is. Poor leadership and lack of any direction have created an extremely stressful and demoralizing environment.
