Sales Organization is in Shambles

Pros

It is a decent way to get your foot in the door but be prepared for a lot of mental issues that come with working here.

Cons

Be mindful - VendorPM gets their current employees to post POSITIVE (5 STAR) GlassDoor reviews after they get a negative one to balance the ratings! The reviews you see after this will likely be fake. The vendor sales organization is very disorganized. Like past reviews have mentioned, barely any inbound lead flow occurs making it almost impossible to reach the targets. The targets itself are very excessive meaning NOBODY ever attains them. This unfortunately leads to a lot of reps deploying desperate measures to close deals such as stealing leads and deceiving customers. Additionally, the company has a very HIGH turnover rate for BDRs. Only TWO BDRs have ever been promoted to AE’s and they both left the organization within months of their promotion. BDRs often leave the organization as a whole or get fired. If you want to grow as a seller, this company does not provide a platform for that. This management says change will happen but it almost never does. The commission structure is disorganized ensuring reps are never fairly compensated. The average deal size is SMALL (<$5k) meaning the commissions you are making are fairly small. However, you will never see the value of your work. Say goodbye to those sweet commission cheques. I have brought up concerns with management which have pretty much led to no changes. It would be helpful if management would want to listen. Unfortunately, they are too indulged in chasing down revenue goals for their VC investors.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I want to address some of your concerns while offering additional context. First and foremost, employees submit reviews on Glassdoor and other platforms voluntarily. These reflect genuine experiences within our organization. While we typically don't respond to negative reviews, we are doing so this time primarily for the benefit of prospective sales candidates. We'd also like to extend an open invitation from our CEO if you'd like to discuss your experience further. Regardless of the claims' validity, there's an underlying experience that prompted your review, and we'd like to understand it better to prevent similar experiences for others in the future. Regarding the turnover rate you mentioned on the Vendor BDR team, it's essential to clarify the nature of this role. Vendor BDR positions are entry-level roles filled by interns, and as such, they are fixed terms of employment. These internships provide valuable learning experiences, and most candidates who are successful in the interview process do very well and make a competitive hourly wage plus commission. More than 20% of our BDR interns have extended their term or returned to us for another internship. Additionally, we have hired two Vendor BDR interns as full-time employees on our Customer Success teams, and both are still with us today. We are proud of their growth within our organization. Achieving sales targets anywhere will likely be challenging but realistic. An internship with us offers individuals the opportunity to explore this field. Sales can be tough, but it's also a field where new graduates can earn six figures in their first year. We continuously evaluate our targets to ensure they are attainable, striving to provide a fair and motivating compensation structure, which we regularly review and refine as needed. You mentioned the need to "steal leads," which is an unfortunate viewpoint. I want to reiterate that there is never an excuse for unethical behavior, and we have a zero-tolerance approach to such matters to uphold our team culture - as a former employee, you should know this. I'm genuinely sorry that you had a negative experience with us, and I hope you have found a better-suited opportunity. If you have any further concerns or suggestions, please contact our CEO, Head of Sales, or HR department. We wish you well. -Neel Bali, Head of Sales

A desolate landscape

Pros

An immersive learning experience in the fast-paced world of startups

Cons

I've been at this job for years, but things were never this bad before. Nobody feels secure in their position anymore. The experienced employees who used to solve problems and tackle challenges are either quitting or getting fired left and right, or being replaced with absolutely incompetent but cheaper people. The workload on the remaining staff keeps piling up higher and higher each day. It's like the company is pushing out all the talented, knowledgeable people who knew how to get things done. So the work environment gets worse and worse, making it increasingly difficult for the ones still there. Every day seems to bring more struggles without the expertise to properly address them. There's just zero stability - you can't count on staying employed no matter how long you've been loyal to the company or how hard you work. And the ever-mounting responsibilities without any leadership support at all is burning people out. It's turning into a workplace dystopia where employees are forced out while the remaining ones drown under impossible workloads.

Pros

Option to work from home

Cons

We face the same issues again and again. Lots of pressure without holding the right teams accountable; product and leadership. The other reviews are correct, leadership makes the wrong decisions quickly without seeing the bigger picture. Employees are told to work outside working hours everyday and be available 247 and employee turnover rate is high.
