Pros

Free gym membership Good facilities

Cons

Unearthly working hours – need to reach the gym before public transport is available and they refuse to reimburse the full taxi/private hire ride. Some senior trainers provide unconstructive criticism to junior trainers and pretend to be encouraging in front of managers. Abuse of seniority/power – senior trainers seeing something amiss in the gym, instead of rectifying it themselves since they are the first witness, they ask the junior trainers to do it claiming that “you guys are on shift and uniforms”. PTs are expected to clean gym equipment and even mop the treadmills. Ops staff are paid poorly, resulting in lack of manpower and PTs are expected to stand in to do Ops duties. A lot of unnecessary paperwork. Instead of passing good clients to junior trainers for them to build up the foundation and confidence, they pass it to senior trainer. No mentorship in selling and coaching. Management don’t listen to the feedback from the ground. Management treats ground staff like school kids – make us sit through in-house training about providing a holistic experience to the members where the in-house trainer was just reading off the slides or making us do school-like activities. Talk about providing a holistic wellness experience for members, yet ignore the physical and mental wellbeing of staff, especially ground staff. Favoritism and biasness towards certain people/race/citizens.
