Pros

The organization tries to operate based on its values. The values are active factors in decision making. Good vacation policies, even for new employees. The mission of the organization is well defined. The board of directors is engaged and constructive. The organization is growing fast and the future looks good. The CEO is very talented in terms of long term strategy.

Cons

There are very radical political views in the organization and they are openly discussed during work meetings. Being a democrat is pretty right wing there. It's an uncomfortable place if your not radical. The CEO hires old friends and they get easier access to her time then others. There aren't many examples of people advancing in the organization except for interns getting hired. Once your hired, advancement is not common. There is a culture where being late is acceptable, and the CEO is biggest offender. A lot of time is wasted due to lateness.

Pros

Really GREAT coworkers. It's a small office and everyone is so worldly and knowledgable, and they're always willing to help you and share their experiences. Regardless of your internship title, you will gain experience in nearly all fields of a social enterprise/nonprofit, which is really exciting.

Cons

As an intern, the monthly stipend (not salary) is impossible to get by on without a second (or third) job. I only worked 2.5 days a week, but I had enough of a workload to fill 4-5 days. You could say that I was lucky to at least get paid something, since many nonprofits offer no pay to interns.
